Jersey Hospice

About Jersey Hospice Care

Jersey Hospice Care supports over 1,000 people each year. We provide a holistic approach to care, incorporating physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects.

We also have an important role in supporting people’s families, especially in providing bereavement support.

We support people with a wide range of conditions including (but not limited to) cancer, motor neurone disease, cardio-vascular diseases, dementia, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. Currently about half of our patients do not have cancer.

The majority of hospice care (80 per cent) is provided in community-based settings, including home, nursing homes, hospital and Day Hospice.

Our Services

All our services are provided free of charge.

Our Specialist Palliative Care team provides support, care, advice and complex symptom management across Hospice, in the community and in the hospital.

The In Patient Unit is a specialist medical unit, offering 24/7 365 days a year medical support. Patients may stay for assessment, symptom management, respite and end of life care. Care is delivered by skilled and experienced nurses and doctors, working with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, to ensure a holistic approach to the care of patients and their family.

Our Day Hospice enriches patient’s lives through individual and group activities. We offer patients and their carers personalised support, whilst empowering them to manage their conditions and prevent unnecessary complications.

The Emotional and Bereavement Service provides free, confidential and person-centred support to any islander who has experienced bereavement. The team also supports patients and their families in a proactive way with the emotional impact of knowing someone is going to die. We have extended our Emotional Support services to support children with life limiting illness, as well as their families.

We provide a comprehensive range of rehabilitative palliative therapies, supporting people to live as well as possible, for as long as possible. As well as physiotherapy, we offer complementary therapies that support the well-being of patients and their families and provide treatment and management for all patients experiencing Lymphoedema caused by cancer or its treatment.
