Jerseybeanstalk.com has been created by me: Samantha Fleming, a local mum with two children and no time to trawl the internet looking for information.
If there is one thing I have learned since becoming a mother, it is that the community around us plays a huge role in how we parent. There are a myriad of support organisations available to us within our community, all designed with the needs of your family at their heart. Some of these organisations are privately run, some offered by the States of Jersey and the not-for-profit sector provides a great service to the people of Jersey.
We have all heard the phrase ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and sometimes it doesn’t feel relevant anymore. These days our village is made up of a few close friends and family and then there are the coffee mornings, playdates, children’s activity clubs, school pickup chats, after school meetups, sports practise gossip sessions, friends at work, group chats, social media support groups, online forums and so many more little interactions that we don’t give a second thought to. This is how our village exists these days, its wider than expected, its different to how it used to be but its still there, facilitated by our busy, daily lives.
I have put this website together with the specific aim of providing you with all of the options to creating your own village. I hope this website helps to support you on your journey to being the kind of parent you want to be.
If you would like to offer me some feedback or if you have some suggestions on improvements I can make send me an email.
